Al Tayebat International City Museum (Rayhanat Al Jazirah, Al Faisaliyah District, Al Faisaliyah District 3170, Saudi, Jeddah 23442 8786) – this museum is truly a city. It is more than 10,000 square meters divided in 300 rooms in 12 buildings showcasing different cultures.

The museum used to be the palace of the late sheikh Abdul Rauf Khalil, a merchant dedicated to his country who wanted to preserve the rich history of the region by scattering museums around Jeddah. The design is based on the beautiful and traditional Hijazi architecture. It was made out of red sea coral block and limestone. The building is 300 years old, but don’t let its age fool you. The museum contains state-of-the-art installations, scientific libraries and specialized equipment.

The museum displays exhibits featuring items collected during over a decade by Khalil himself. The collection varies from exquisite manuscripts and stunning Islamic furniture to ancient Islamic coins and Islamic pottery art. You can also find wood, gypsum and stonework showcasing the old architectural style and the layout of the city. It reflects human activity in the early stages of the city. Admission: SR 300 per person. Hours: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm; 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm (Saturday – Thursday) (closed on Fridays).
